Further scrutiny by the Environment Agency uncovered that the waste was heavily contaminated with various household items, ranging from electricals to nappies and oil canisters. This illicit activity evidently yielded substantial financial gain for both the company and its director.
During the sentencing at Manchester Crown Court on March 27, 2024, Roydon Resource Recovery was hit with a significant fine of £870,000, which included £811,181 in Proceeds of Crime.
